10/30/13 Wiki Research

1.  Class wikis can be used to organize and collaborate on projects and school work. In Web 2.0, it could be used for, let's say, making a blog. You will say who posts about what and when they will do it.

2. It is easier than emailing and filling your inbox with countless emails, then copying and pasting into one document and re-sending. Just one click of the save button and everyone immediately can see all the changes. No copying. No pasting. No re-sending. No hassle.

3. We could create a wiki for projects and assignments due throughout the course. We can easily change moved due dates, and add new assignments whenever they are needed.

4. I have never made a wiki, but I have used wikis like Wikipedia and Wiki Answers when I needed information or help with school work.

Do Now 10/28/13

Franklin was sitting on top of a building. He couldn't take life anymore. He was scared, but willing to jump. finally, the moment came, and he jumped. When he was about to hit the floor, everything stopped. Was he dead? No. He was caught by something. He felt what seemed like arms holding him. It was someone that he couldn't see. Franklin took this as a sign that he shouldn't have jumped. What if all the good things in life were like this "person" that caught him, and couldn't be seen, and he would have to really look through his life to find them. Life isn't bad, it just seems bad at the time. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It isn't worth it.

This is the type of thing that I would do if I was invisible. Helping people that need it. There isn't anything better than the feeling of knowing you helped someone. I have helped people, but none of it really seemed significant, but even the smallest things can change someone forever. Think before you act. Make the right choices.

Diamonds on other planets?

It has been discovered that Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus have the perfect conditions to have carbon in a diamond form. If we ever develop a way to travel there, it could be very amazing. Now of course, it hasn't been 100% proved, and no spacecraft has gone to collect samples. But in modeling experiments, it has been proven likely.

Do Now 10/7/13

If I were to create a class, I would make a game design class. It would be only for the people who wanted to be in it. It could be in Mr. Porfido's room with the laptops. I am thinking about going to college for this, so it would be great to get some experience in it. I would enjoy to have this class at
school.

The class could be based on the free Unity3D program (logo below). It is very easy to use compared to others, and it is free. It could be a good start for learning how to design games. I have never tried it, but i will most likely see what I can do on it soon. The final project could be making a game by yourself. Making a game by yourself would be a fun project, and see what you have learned throughout the class. If they do well, it shows that they know their stuff and payed attention.
